A man was left fighting for his life in hospital after he was "violently beaten up" during a row outside a pub in west London.

The 32-year-old victim was attacked by two men who knocked him to the ground before repeatedly punching him as he lay on the floor in Hanwell, police said.

Police and paramedics raced to the scene after the violence broke out outside the Duke of York pub in Station Road, at about 2am on Saturday.

The man, who is said to have been involved in an argument with his attackers, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries.

The suspects initially fled the scene in a blue Vauxhall Astra [registration LS04NPU] but the car was found abandoned at the rear of the pub.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in West Ealing later on Saturday on suspicion of GBH and taken into custody at a west London police station

Police today described the injured man’s condition as stable and said that his injures are no longer thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the "vicious" and "violent" assault and have released descriptions of the two suspects.

The first suspect is described as tanned or Asian in appearance, around 20 to 30 years-old, 6ft tall with short dark hair. He wore a white shirt, jeans and a leather jacket.

The second suspect is also described as tanned or Asian in appearance, around 20-30 years-old and approx. 5ft 6ins tall with short dark hair and a beard. He also wore a white shirt.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police in Ealing on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.
