Tributes have been paid to a four-year-old boy knocked down and killed by a car in west London.

Agarvin Sasikaran died in hospital early on Monday following the crash in Uxbridge Road, Hayes.

Witnesses said the child was walking home from shops with his mother and a younger sibling in a pram when he was hit.

He was at a pelican crossing when it is claimed he suddenly darted into the road.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 7pm on Sunday.

The driver of the car stopped and no arrests have been made.

Tributes, including flowers and a picture, were left at the scene of the collision.

His uncle Gnanes Arul said: “The family are devastated. He broke away from his mother, that’s when the accident happened. He was a lovely little boy. That road is so dangerous.”

He said his nephew had been to local shops near the family home.

Shopkeeper Siva Ramalindan, who runs the Tamilan Cash and Carry, said: “I know the family - they are lovely, they are my customers. The mother had two children, one was in a buggy.

“The other one ran in the road at the crossing after the mum pushed the button on the pedestrian crossing. It’s absolutely terrible for them. We are all grieving.”

Another shopkeeper said: “There were police and ambulances everywhere. We believe the little boy lived around here. It’s a tragedy. The traffic on this road is so fast, it’s very dangerous.”

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or 020 8991 9555, quoting CAD 5717/11Oct20.
