A man today denied killing his pregnant wife who disappeared seven years ago.

Robert Ekaireb, 38, pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to murdering Lihau Cao, 27.

Ekaireb, of Corrigan Close, Hendon, north London, was remanded on conditional bail to face trial on June 24.

Mrs Ekaireb, who was also known as Li or Lisa, was last seen alive in October 2006 when she was four months pregnant.

She was reported missing in February 2007 when her family in China became increasingly worried about her.

There have been no reliable sightings of her since and her body has not been found.

Mrs Ekaireb left China in 2002 and worked as a waitress and dancer in Dublin until June 2006.
