A murder probe has been launched after a double stabbing in west London left one man dead.

Police were called to an address in Granville Avenue, Hounslow around 3:20am on Monday after reports of a disturbance.

They found two men, both aged in their twenties, suffering stab wounds.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.23am.

The second man was taken to hospital but he has since been discharged.

Officers believe they know the identity of the victim who died and are in the process of informing the man’s family.

Detectives were hunting for clues today as forensic officers scoured the address in Granville Avenue.

A large police cordon had thrown up around the house. A neighbour said: “We heard screaming and shouting and then the shrill sound of sirens.

“There were loads of police here. It’s a nice neighbourhood we can’t believe what has happen.”

Afzaal Kiani, 59, is a Hounslow Labour councillor who lives a few doors down from where the killing took place.

He told the Standard: “We were awoken by sirens and then police were everywhere.

“It’s all very shocking….All the residents are asking me what happened. “The people in the house where it happened are new there. We are deeply shocked. This is a nice area, I am a father and my kids are asking me what happened.

“It’s a shock for us all. We need to know how and why this happened.”

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and the police have not made any arrests.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 645/22mar.
