Ceremonial garments worn by the Household Cavalry have been stolen from a military supplier, believed to be worth more than £60,000.

The nine uniforms and two silver helmets, which are worn by the Queen’s official bodyguards, were stolen on August 18 from the supplier located in South Tottenham.

When on duty soldiers wear the distinctive metal helmets which have a long plume of horses hair hanging on top, not seen on many other types of soldiers.

Police appeal: garments worth £60,000 were stolen

Police are appealing for anyone who may be offered the items for sale or has any information regarding the theft to come forward.

The Armoured Regiment of the Household Calvary are based at Combermere Baracks in Windsor and the Mounted Regiment in Hyde Park Barracks, Knightsbridge.

Anyone with any information can call Haringey Police Burglary Unit on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
