Detectives are hunting an arsonist who they believe has struck nine times, including at a children’s charity.

The fire at Kids Can Achieve in Harrow in January is thought to have been the first in a string of attacks on buildings, cars and skips in north-west London. In the latest, at the weekend, a blaze at a tyre shop in Long Elmes, Harrow Weald, spread to a post office and forced 30 people in flats above to flee.

Images of a hooded man were caught by cameras outside Kids Can Achieve in Chicheley Road. Pat Lee, its operations manager, said: “He lights what looks like a Molotov cocktail and throws it over the fence. Some rubbish ... went up with a real whoosh and the heat of the flames cracked a door.

“You can tell from the images how much he enjoys watching the flames.”
