Police are investigating after a man exposed himself to women and young girls in a popular west London park.

The man allegedly got completely naked in front of the passersby and began touching himself inappropriately during the incident which took place in Richmond Park on May 28.

The suspect, who is described as white, aged in his late 60s or 70s and wearing glasses, was reportedly seen in Ham Nature Reserve between 3pm and 5pm that afternoon.

He was detained by park wardens and ordered to get dressed and leave before they were aware of the specific allegations against him, Scotland Yard said.

He left on a dark-coloured mountain bike, wearing Vans shoes and blue shorts.

Police were called by Patrol Officers at 5.38pm following reports of the incident. So far there have been no arrests.

Detective Constable Chris Biddle, leading investigations, said: "This is a shocking incident that is likely to have caused considerable distress to a number of women and teenagers using the park that afternoon.

"I’ve been made aware of two males who were in the park at the time and stated to another member of the public that they had seen the whole incident.

“Speaking with these two males will provide valuable information for this investigation and I urge them to contact us.

“I would also like to hear from any victims who may have been approached by this man, or any witnesses who can assist our enquiries. Please contact us immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South West Command Unit via 101, quoting CAD 6419/28 MAY.
