A thug who stabbed a bouncer repeatedly six months after he refused him entry to a night club has been jailed.

Mario Dos Santos, of Lansdowne Green, Stockwell, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday after a four-day trial.

The 26-year-old was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

The court heard Dos Santos was part of a group of men who the 36-year-old victim walked past while out with a friend in Moat Lane, Brixton, on the evening of September 12 last year.

When the victim acknowledged the men Dos Santos recognised him and confronted him over why he was refused entry into a Lambeth club six months earlier.

He then pulled a six-inch long flick-knife from his trouser waistband and threatened the victim.

Although the victim tried to calm the situation down Dos Santos stabbed him five times, four times in the leg and once in the shoulder, piercing the victim's left lung and causing it to collapse.

The victim bled heavily and was struggling to breathe but managed to flee the scene with his friend and call 999.

DC Kendal Moore, the investigating officer from Lambeth CID, said: "Dos Santos carried out a vicious attack on the victim because he was refused entry to a club some six months before by the victim who was simply doing his job. Dos Santos has shown no remorse for his actions throughout.

"I would like to praise the victim for his courage in reporting the attack to the police and for assisting us with this complex investigation to ensure Dos Santos was brought to justice."

Dos Santos was arrested on 22 September and charged the following day.

The victim has since recovered from his injuries.
