The family of football boss Jose Mourinho were targeted by burglars during a stay at a top London hotel, it was revealed today.
The former Chelsea manager’s wife Matilde, 47, and his daughter Tita, 16, had their room in the five-star Wyndham Grand Hotel in Chelsea raided by thieves.
Mourinho, 50, flew over to the capital immediately following the incident in which a laptop was stolen from their suite.
Tita and her mother have been in London after Tita enrolled on a fine art course at Camberwell College of Arts.
Although Mourinho owns a house near Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge ground, his wife and Tita booked in at the nearby hotel where rooms are up to £1,044 a night.
Today Scotland Yard confirmed that officers were investigating the burglary, which happened at 11pm on March 27.
The Wyndham Grand said it could not comment on the break-in while the investigation was underway, but manager Xavier Montembault said: “We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously.”
Mourinho, now managing Real Madrid, is tipped to return to Stamford Bridge. But owner Roman Abramovich is understood to have reservations and the club is said to be also considering Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini to succeed interim manager Rafa Benitez in the summer.
Mourinho’s family have been targeted by burglars before, when a Macedonian gang tracked his movements in a plot to raid his Italian villa in Como two years ago. But police foiled them.
