A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of a man who was knifed to death on the streets of Kensington.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested on Tuesday following the fatal stabbing on May 31.

The victim has been named as Mark Fontaine, 41, of Walthamstow. He died at the scene shortly after 11pm.

Police and paramedics were called at around 10.20pm following reports of a stabbing on Cathcart Road.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

The defendant appeared at Highbury Magistrates Court on Tuesday and remains in custody at a north London police station.

Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and have urged anyone with any information to contact them.
