A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in north London.

The Metropolitan Police was called to Highgate Road, near Gospel Oak and Kentish Town, just before 7.40pm on Monday.

The force said 37-year-old Jack Ampadu was found with stab wounds and, despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from officers.

Dwayne Stewart-Akers, 37, of Highgate Road, has been charged with his murder, police said.

He has appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court and is in custody ahead of appearing at the Old Bailey on Monday.
