A murder probe was launched the following day, with detectives arresting a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.

In total, three people have now been arrested as part of the investigation, with a 21-year-old man arrested at the scene on Friday night.

He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Friends paid tribute to Ms Abdhou, who was described as a “beautiful and caring soul” by her heartbroken family.

They said: "We are truly saddened, heartbroken and still in complete shock that we have lost a beautiful and caring soul. No words can truly express our feelings towards this situation.

"She was a loving daughter, sister and friend. She was loved by everyone and her warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly.”

Flowers were laid at the scene in memory of Ms Abdhou, also known as Montana, who is said to have lived with her family, originally from Iran, in Northolt, west London.

One friend wrote: “This world is so cruel, rest up baby girl. I’ll never forget you and all the mad nights we had. You will be truly missed.”

DCI Andy Partridge said: "Whilst arrests have been made, this investigation is still in its early stages and I believe the public can provide further information to assist the investigation.

"In particular I am keen to trace anyone who saw the two ‘masked’ suspects together on bicycles, either in Malvern Road, or nearby before or after the attack.

"The suspects headed towards Shirland Road after the attack and we now know they entered Shirland Mews, this was within minutes of the attack at 8.54pm on Friday, 26 May.”
