A north London high street was placed on lockdown after reports of a shooting.

Police were called to reports of gunshots fired in Kingsbury Circle, at 8.15pm on Wednesday.

Kingsbury Road’s restaurants and shops were closed down as police investigated but there were no reports of any injuries. No arrests have been made.

It came hours after a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm after a separate incident in Rainham, east London on Saturday.

CCTV footage appears to show a child, who is walking on his own, suddenly finding himself in the middle of the attack.

He turns and runs as the suspected shooter pulls a gun out of a bag and sprints towards the intended target.

Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 7389/17May.
