A personal assistant at an international insurance brokerage who glassed a woman during Friday night drinks in the City has been warned by a judge that she could be jailed.

Lauren Gritz, 24, “lashed out” at victim Paige Wooding with a glass at Agenda Bar on the evening of May 6, Inner London crown court was told.

Ms Wooding, who did not know her assailant, collapsed three times after the attack and required medical treatment to a wound on her forehead.

Gritz, who works at City of London offices of insurance firm Jardine Lloyd Thompson, in St Boltolph Street, pleaded guilty yesterday to unlawful wounding.

Judge Nigel Seed QC adjourned sentencing until October 25 but warned Gritz that she could face a prison sentence at the next hearing.

Facing jail: Lauren Gritz

“This is a serious matter and the courts have to consider all sentencing options,” he said.

“I am releasing you on bail but you must not read into that you will not receive a custodial sentence.”

Gritz, who was educated at All Saints Catholic School in Dagenham, has been employed as a personal assistant to the senior moves manager at Jardine Lloyd Thompson since February 2013.

Prosecutor Peter Lancaster told the court: “This is in relation to what happened in a bar where the defendant lashed out, wounding the forehead of the victim.

“She caused a small cut to the forehead and the victim collapsed three times, so this is obviously a serious matter.”

The defendant, dressed in a black trouser suit and white blouse, spoke only to confirm her name and enter the guilty plea during the brief hearing.

The court heard that the attack was captured by CCTV cameras inside Agenda bar and the judge will watch the footage before he passes sentence next month.

Gritz, of South Ockendon, Thurrock, pleaded guilty to one charge of unlawful wounding.
