Lewisham stabbing: Man in hospital with wounds to head and back after early morning street attack

A 28-year-old man was stabbed in the head and back in the early hours of Saturday morning in a south London high street.

Police said the injured victim was found in Lewisham High Street, near the junction with Longbridge Way, at about 3.30am.

Officers discovered him after being called to a disturbance in the street. His stab wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.

A second man, who was also taken to hospital with minor injuries, is being held by police on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The junction was shut into the morning as police tried to establish what had happened.

A tweet from Lewisham police said: “Following a disturbance in the street, two males have been taken to hospital, one with stab wounds.”
