A man was appearing in court today charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter.
Kevin Park, 26, was arrested after Madison Horn was found dead in “suspicious circumstances” on Easter Sunday. He was seen being led away by officers after the toddler was carried from the house in Kelty, Fife, by paramedics. She was pronounced dead at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
Park was due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court today.
On Facebook, Madison’s mother, Anne-Marie White, 21, wrote that her “precious girl” had died “far too young”, and added: “This was just an accident. It would have happened if I was in the house.”
Ms White is understood to have been dating Park since late last year. Madison was staying at the property in Croftangry Road overnight with her mother, but did not live there permanently, it was reported.
Soft toys and pink roses were left at the gate. A teddy bear was laid with the note: “Rest in peace little Madison, now you’re in the arms of the angels.”
An Upsy Daisy doll had a message which read: “Heaven has gained another angel. Rest in peace little one.”
Local MP Gordon Brown and MSP Alex Rowley said in a joint statement: “Kelty is a strong close-knit community and there is universal sadness. [We] will come together to mourn and ... support those closest to her.”
