A 70-year-old man has been accused of the murder of a 69-year-old man after a fight on a zebra crossing.

The scrap allegedly took place in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, at about 8.45pm last Friday.

Retired mechanical engineer Paul Davidson was crossing a road in Market Place about 600 yards from his home when he was allegedly attacked by a driver, who had stopped and got out of their car.

He spent two nights in hospital before being discharged, but collapsed and died at home on Monday, three days after the incident.

Odysseas Vafiadis, of Birchdale, Gerrards Cross, has been charged with his murder.

He was due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
