A man and a woman have made contact with police after an appeal for a couple who "engaged in inappropriate sexual behaviour" on board an Essex bound train.

The incident, said to have lasted more than half an hour on the Liverpool Street to Clacton-on-Sea service, was the subject of a CCTV appeal yesterday.

Today Essex Police said two people had come forward and would be interviewed in connection with the incident "in due course".

Shocked parents were said to have moved their children away from a couple who were behaving inappropriately on the train during the evening of June 7.

Sergeant Alan King, who is leading the investigation for the British Transport Police, said today: “I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward with valuable information.

"I would also like to thank the media for publicising this appeal.”
