A man has been arrested in connection with claims that Pippa Middleton’s iCloud account was hacked.

Detectives investigating the alleged hacking have arrested a 35-year-old man at an address in Northamptonshire.

Pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge and her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are reportedly among 3,000 images taken from Kate's sister.

The anonymous seller is alleged to have asked for £50,000 within 48 hours for the photos.

The stash is also said to include images of Miss Middleton, 33, at a wedding dress fitting and partying, and naked pictures of her fiancé.

The photos were allegedly offered to the Sun and the Daily Mail via encrypted messaging service WhatsApp after being taken from Miss Middleton’s iCloud account.

The Sun newspaper quoted a spokesman for Miss Middleton as saying: "Thank you very much for drawing this to the family's attention.

"I can confirm that not only have the lawyers been informed but the police are about to be involved as well."

The hack follows other high-profile image thefts from celebrities including Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence.

In July it was announced that Miss Middleton would marry her financier boyfriend, James Matthews in a society wedding in 2017, with William and Kate saying they were a "wonderful couple".

Hedge fund boss Mr Matthews got down on bended knee during a trip to the Lake District after they had dated for less than a year.
