A man on the run from police since August after a shooting has been arrested.

Francis O'Donoghue, 27, was sought by officers following what is being treated as the attempted murder of two men on a travellers' site off Goatswood Lane in Navestock, Brentwood, Essex on August 27.

Police said the shooting was the culmination of a dispute between neighbours which began outside a shop in Harold Wood, east London earlier that day.

Two men in their 20s from the Brentwood area sustained gunshot wounds to the legs and chest and underwent surgery.

O'Donoghue was arrested in Southgate, north London shortly after 10pm yesterday.

Police said he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned at a London station.
