A man is due to appear in court today charged with raping a woman in her 70s in her own home.

Jason Batchelor, 46, from Wallington, south London, is also accused of one count of sexual assault and one count of actual bodily harm.

The woman answered the door to her home in Purley, south London, on Wednesday after seeing someone on her doorstep.

A man then used his foot to force the door open and barged into her home, police said.

Batchelor was appearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
