Man dies after being hit by Overground train at Walthamstow Central

A man has died after being hit by a train at Walthamstow Central station during rush hour this morning.

Police and paramedics attended the incident, which led to delays on the London Overground line through the station, at around 8.30am. The man was confirmed dead at the scene.

People took to Twitter to express their sympathy for the man as well as his family and the driver of the train.

One wrote: "RIP to 1 who lost his life on #Walthamstow tracks morning. Cheers 2 all 20+ firefighters, interventions units & police who tried best. :("

Another said: "My thoughts are with the family and the driver at Walthamstow Central - terrible start of the day today."

A British Transport Police spokesman said the incident was not believed to be suspicious.
