A man has died after being hit by a train near Wembley Stadium in an incident police are treating as unexplained.

British Transport Police were called to the overground railway line close to Willesden Green station at 7.58am after reports a man had been struck by a train.

Medics from the London Ambulance Service were called out to help but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said the death was being treated as unexplained and a file would be prepared for the coroner.

The incident has led to cancellations of Chiltern Railway services between Marylebone and Wembley Stadium stations this morning, with disruption currently expected until 3pm.

Tube services on the Jubilee line through Willesden Green are also affected by the police investigation work.
