A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a teenager found shot dead in a car.

Shaheed Nowaz, 19, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday accused of the murder of Joseph Burke-Monerville, and two counts of attempted murder.

Joseph was killed as he sat in a car with his twin, Jonathan, and his older brother, David, in Hackney on Saturday February 16 last year.

The 19-year-old, from Islington, had studied at boarding school in Nigeria before being admitted to London Metropolitan University to study crime scene and forensic investigations.

He was halfway through his first year on the course when he was shot dead.

Two other suspects have also been charged with Joseph's murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Scott Andrews, 27, and Roshane Reid, 20, both from Hackney, are due to appear at the Old Bailey on March 2.

Another man aged 28 was also arrested in connection with the investigation. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
