A man was slashed across the face during a knife attack in south London this afternoon.

Police discovered the 56-year-old victim with knife wounds to his face outside an address in Sholden Gardens, St Mary Cray, shortly before 1pm.

Paramedics took the man to a south London hospital where he is recovering from his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, police said.

He remains in custody at a south London police station pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bromley police on 101.
