A pair of masked muggers stabbed a couple repeatedly in a horrific attack as they sat on a park bench in north London.
The men cornered their victims, a 24-year-old man and 21-year-old woman, on Downhills Park Road in Haringey.
They demanded that the man hand over his phone and when he refused, they both began stabbing him in the back, police said.
They also slashed the woman's hand during the attack on Wednesday evening before fleeing the scene.
The man was described as being in a "serious but stable condition" in hospital on Thursday, while the woman's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said they were hunting for two black men aged about 20 over the assault as they appealed for witnesses.
They were wearing scarves across their faces when they attacked the couple at about 6pm on Wednesday.
