A prolific teenage burglar who boasted about his crimes under the rapper alias of ‘MC McEwan’ has been jailed for three years.

Dylan McEwan, 19, was involved in burglaries at two homes in Pudsey and Bramley in Leeds in the early hours of December 20 last year where four cars were stolen along with Christmas presents.

Two of the stolen cars were chased by police and they arrested McEwan and two young accomplices being arrested when they attempted to abandon the cars and run off in Bradford.

Investigating, officers unearthed videos on McEwan’s social media where he rapped about his car thefts.

In the clip the teen, who also styled himself as the ‘B-town grafter’ is seen driving as the caption "big whips", slang for an expensive car, flashes on screen.

His lyrics included the lines: “I’m the B-town grafter, I creep through your yard. Getting paid out for the brand new cars.

“But I can’t lie, graft life’s hard, spending half your time sitting behind bars”.

Detective Inspector Vicky Vessey, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “The utter disdain he has for the people he targets to steal from is abundantly clear from the lyrics in his social media post.”

She added: “McEwan is a prolific burglar whose offending has brought misery to his victims who have had to suffer the indignity of having their homes invaded and their property stolen.

“The two burglaries he has been convicted of took place just days before Christmas when this type of crime is always more acutely felt by those who experience it.”

McEwan, from Seacroft, was sentenced alongside his accomplices on February 4.

The trio had pleaded guilty to two counts each of burglary and car theft charges at Leeds Crown Court.

The two other youths, who cannot be named as they are underage, were each given community rehabilitation orders.
