Two men have been charged with trespassing after a New Fathers 4 Justice protest took place on the roof of Jeremy Corbyn’s home.

The protest was campaigning for fathers' their right to see their children and was accusing Mr Corbyn of failing to hold the government to account.

Robert Junior Smith, 34, and Martin Matthews, 49, have been charged with aggravated trespass and deterring a person from engaging in lawful activity.

The road was closed off and police were called just after 10:00am on Friday after reports of two men on the roof of the building in Islington.

A police helicopter was reportedly at the scene and passers-by were said to be taking pictures and giving the two men the "thumbs up" in support.

Mr Smith, of Anderson Road, Stevenage and Mr Matthews, of Middlemead Road, Bookham, were both charged on Saturday and will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on September 5.
