Serial killer Levi Bellfield today lost a Court of Appeal bid to challenge his conviction for the kidnap and murder of teenager Milly Dowler.

Bellfield, 43, was given a whole life term last year after being found guilty of abducting and murdering the 13-year-old in March 2002 following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Today Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, Mr Justice Wyn Williams and Mr Justice Maddison refused the former bouncer the right to appeal against conviction.

Bellfield was already serving a whole-life term for the murders of Amelie Delagrange and Marsha McDonnell, and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy.
