Police have released footage of the horrifying moment a pedestrian is ploughed into by a hit and run driver.

The 37-year-old was crossing a road in Didsbury, Manchester, when he was struck by a silver Peugeot 307 at around 10.30pm.

In the January 29 incident at the junction between Parrs Wood Road and Wilmslow Road, he suffered a broken neck, cuts to his head and a back injury, Greater Manchester Police said.

CCTV video released by the force shows the motorist drive off from the scene. Police said the car did not stop and carried on towards School Lane.

Sergeant Iain Lamb said: "We would like to ask anyone who may have seen a car matching this description in the area at the time, or who thinks they recognise the vehicle, to contact us.

"Also, if you know anyone who owns a silver 307 with damage to its front end, please ring the numbers below.

"It is possible the driver may not have realised they hit anyone, but we must speak to the driver as a matter of urgency."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 2993 or the independent charity CrimeStoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
