CCTV shows a police officer being elbowed in the face by a suspect in a “vicious” and unprovoked attack that left him with a broken nose.

Mubarik Cadani, 31, right, was taken to Hounslow police station after an assault on August 21. Seconds before he lashed out, he was behaving calmly.

Cadani, of Hounslow, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm at Isleworth crown court yesterday and was sentenced to 20 months in jail.

Detective Constable David Payne said: “This is a sickening, vicious assault ... We released the footage to show the levels of violence officers are faced with on a daily basis.

Jailed: Mubarik Cadani
Metropolitan Police Service

"We are happy with the sentence which reflects that assaults against public service workers are unacceptable.”
