Nine people arrested on suspicion of murder after a father was killed in a suspected drive-by shooting in north London have been bailed.

Erdogan Guzel, 42, was in Lordship Lane, Wood Green, at 5.45pm on Friday, July 10 when he received a gunshot wound to the chest.

A 51-year-old woman was also injured and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command arrested six people - three men and three women - at Gatwick airport on Tuesday, July 14 on suspicion of murder or conspiracy to murder.

The three woman, aged 20, 21 and 61 years old, were bailed on Wednesday, July 15 to a date in mid-September

The men, two aged 16 and one aged 25, were also bailed until mid-September.

Three other men, aged 55, 23 and 26, were arrested at a home in Hornsey on suspicion of murder and have also been bailed until dates in mid-September.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield said: "The investigation is moving at a fast pace and whilst exact details of what happened remain to be established, what is clear is that two innocent bystanders have been caught up in a violent dispute between other people.

"I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who has information and has not yet come forward and spoken to the police to do so.

"I believe there are people out there who know who is responsible for this terrible crime and I appeal to them to consider how they would feel if their loved one was killed or seriously injured whilst going about their business.

"I would like to reassure anyone concerned about contacting the police that they will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and there are measures that can be taken to protect you.”

Anyone with information should call the incident room on 020 8358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
