A man chased three weapon-wielding burglars out of his home on a quiet road in north west London, before smashing their getaway car window.

The trio, who were armed, had broken into his home in Northolt in the early hours of the morning, but woke him up.

He confronted them, chased them out of his house and smashed the rear window of their getaway car,

They are believed to have already broken into a neighbouring house in Hornbeam Close in the early hours of December 30, and stole money while the occupants were asleep upstairs.

The getaway car was later identified as a pale blue Citroen C3.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Nicholas Strachan at Ealing CID on 101.
