A pedestrian is fighting for her life after suffering head injuries in a crash in north-west London this afternoon.

The woman, 28, was hit by a silver Volkswagen Golf shortly before 1.30pm on Thursday in Mandeville Road, Northolt, near the junction with Moat Farm Road.

The driver, a man aged 26, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possessing class A drugs believed to be heroin, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He is being held at a west London police station.

The woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries at a central London hospital, police said.

Officers have appealed for witnesses.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the collision investigators witness line on 020 8911 9555.
