A hotel worker who battered his flatmate to death with a hammer less than an hour after finishing a six-hour binge on extreme pornography is facing life in prison today.

Lucian Stinci, 34, bludgeoned primary school teacher Florina Pastina repeatedly over the head at the home they shared in Croydon, leaving her to die on the kitchen floor.

The Old Bailey heard Stinci, a superviser at the Mayday Hotel in Croydon, had professed his love for Ms Pastina in the past and unsuccessfully asked her out on a date. He had also set up a hidden spy camera to film her in the shower.

He sent her a Valentine’s Day card last year telling her she had “magical powers”, and followed it up with a birthday card in June, saying: “For the most beautiful creature from the universe. I wish you could see yourself through my eyes tonight.”

Stinci, who moved to the UK a decade ago, was also obsessed with sado-masochistic extreme pornography, and had spent six hours looking at a large number of videos of women being tortured, raped and killed the night before he murdered Ms Pastina.

Computer analysis showed he logged on to a website just before midnight and finally stopped viewing videos at 6.07am on July 19 last year. Stinci attacked Ms Pastina less than an hour later, at about 7am.

He is also believed to have been high on cocaine and had recently taken a drug for erectile dysfunction when he carried out the horrific attack. In the dock at the Old Bailey today, Stinci pleaded guilty to murder and possessing cocaine, as well as attacks on Ms Pastina’s niece and nephew, 25-year-old twins Claudia Pastina and Nicholas Hellen.

Mr Hellen had been woken by the noise of the attack in the kitchen, and was hit over the head by Stinci with the hammer before being bitten by him.Stinci also thrust the hammer into Claudia Pastina’s stomach as she tried to intervene, before she hit him over the head with a wine bottle.

As the twins ran out of the house screaming, Stinci hid the hammer in the back garden before putting on his jacket and rucksack as if he was going to work. He was detained outside the house as paramedics tried in vain to save Ms Pastina.

Stinci is expected to be sentenced later today by Judge Richard Marks QC. He has also pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and unlawful wounding.
