The parents of a baby who was found unresponsive on a bus will go on trial next year over her murder, a court heard today.
Three-month-old Imani Baker was discovered on the lower deck of the bus in Stratford, east London, at 10.20am last Wednesday.
She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination found she died from head injuries.
Rosalin Baker, 25, and Jeffrey Wiltshire, 52, appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with her murder on or about September 28.
They also face charges of causing or allowing the death of or serious physical harm to a child, and child neglect.
Wiltshire appeared in court via video-link from Pentonville prison, wearing a grey top and with his hair in bunches.
Baker was in the dock of the court dressed in a baggy grey sweatshirt and with a stud in her cheek.
The pair, who lived together in Manor Park, east London, spoke only to confirm their names before Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC set a timetable for the case.
A plea hearing was set for January 13 and a provisional trial on March 20 next year.
The trial is expected to be heard by a high court judge and last for two-and-a-half weeks.
The couple were remanded in custody and no application for bail was made.
