A pervert has been jailed and banned from travelling on the Tube during rush hour after a string of attacks on women.

Emanuil Boros, 29, crept up on commuters and groped them from behind as they waited for trains or passed through ticket barriers.

The north London man – who even preyed on the same passenger twice in nine days - was caught in the act after police began patrolling one of the stations where he carried out the assaults.

Dressed in plain clothes, officers snared the groper at Balham Tube station after seeing him touch a woman as she passed through the barriers in December last year.

Boros, from Wellspring Crescent in Wembley, admitted four counts of sexual assault and was jailed for 12 weeks at Blackfriars Crown Court earlier this month.

When he leaves prison he will also be banned from going into any Underground station or boarding any Tube train on weekdays between 6.30am and 9.30am and 4pm to 7pm.

Boros is also barred from going to Balham or Finchley stations, where he carried out his spate of assaults, for the next five years.

PC Mark Luker, from British Transport Police, called Boros a “predatory sex offender” who specifically targeted women as they commuted around the capital in November and December last year. He would then flee from the scene.

“He showed little regard for his victims, leaving them in shock and deeply upset,” PC Luker said.

“I would like to commend their bravery in coming forward and reporting these offences to us, which should give others the confidence to speak out.

“We are satisfied with the sentence handed to Boros, that he will be placed on the Sex Offender Register and has been banned from using the underground at peak times.”

But PC Luker added: “It is possible there are other women out there who Boros may have preyed on but, for whatever reason, have chosen not to report what happened.

“Our message to anyone who is a victim of unwanted sexual behaviour is that reporting it can help us to stop it: no incident or detail is too small or trivial. As this case shows, we will always take you seriously and treat you with respect.”
