A pervert who exposed himself to a woman who was travelling alone on the Tube has been handed a suspended sentence.

Vodzhan Ilievski, 20, of Valentines Road in Ilford, was sentenced to three months, suspended for a year, at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He had previously been found guilty at Tottenham Magistrates’ Court of one count of exposure.

On August 24 last year, Ilievski sat next to a woman travelling on her own on a Bakerloo train from Paddington to Queens Park.

He stared at her and touched himself inappropriately.

The victim said she felt intimidated and frightened by his actions and left the train at Queens Park in tears.

The woman reported and the incident and Ilievski was arrested when officers reviewed CCTV footage.

Investigating officer PC Les Dunnett said: “I am pleased that Ilievski has been brought to justice.

"The nature and circumstances of this offence made it clear that Ilievski thought it acceptable to target a lone female, when the train had come to a temporary stop in a tunnel and when she had no one to turn to.

“We will treat all offences of this nature extremely seriously and encourage anyone who has been a victim, or sees someone acting inappropriately, to get in touch immediately. We will listen and we will work tirelessly to bring the offender to justice.”

Siwan Hayward, TfL’s Deputy Director of Enforcement and On-Street Operations, added: “No one should be made to feel intimidated or frightened while travelling and I commend this woman for coming forward.

“We strongly urge anyone who is made to feel uncomfortable while travelling to report it immediately and be confident that, alongside BTP, we will take swift action.”

Ilievsky was also ordered to pay the victim £200 compensation and court costs of £620.
