This is the first picture of a woman police officer believed to have been “murdered” after detectives discovered a body in a lake in Cheshire.
Police believe the body discovered is mum-of-three Leanne McKie, a 39-year-old police officer serving for Greater Manchester Police.
The body was discovered in Poynton Park, near Macclesfield, at about 3.45am on Friday, police said.
Detective Inspector Adam Waller, of Cheshire Police, said: "We are aware of a number of rumours circulating in relation to the identity of the victim and, whilst formal identification has not yet taken place, we do believe that the victim is 39-year-old Leanne McKie, from Wilmslow.
"Leanne was a mother of three young children and a serving police officer in Greater Manchester Police. Our thoughts at this difficult time are with Leanne's family, friends and colleagues."
A 43-year-old man from Wilmslow has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in police custody.
Police added the incident is believed to be isolated and detectives are not looking for other suspects.
Friends have paid tribute to Mrs McKie as a “perfect” mother who was devoted to her three children.
One neighbour told the Sun: “I can’t believe it. It’s terrible. She was a lovely woman with a young family. It’s too awful for words."
Investigations were continuing on Friday night and a cordon set up around the popular tourist spot.
