A dog believed to be a pit bull terrier has died after being Tasered by police.
The dog was seen attacking another dog and its owner when police were called to the incident last night in Braunstone Town, Leicestershire.
Police said the attacking dog continued to be aggressive. To prevent further injuries and further attacks, officers decided to deploy a Taser to incapacitate the animal, a police spokesman said.
The dog subsequently died.
The injured owner was taken to hospital for treatment to puncture wounds to his legs. The attacked dog received treatment for its injuries at a veterinary practice.
The pit bull's owner was not thought to have been with it at the time of the attack.
Police told BBC News the owner may be arrested and charged with criminal offences.
