Police are hunting for a burglar who broke into a shop and stole £6,000 worth of mobile phones in south London.

The man forced open the shutters of the shop, located in Tooting High Street, Wandsworth, at 4.30am on December 22.

He was captured on CCTV footage entering the shop through the front door and stealing the phones with an estimated value of £6,000.

The shop owner was not insured, police said.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man in a bid to trace the suspect.

Detective Constable Andy Pattison said: “This burglary represented a substantial loss to a local business.

“We are asking the public to look carefully at the image and see if they can identify the person.
