Tottenham crash: Police officer injured in hit-and-run in north London

A police officer has been injured in a hit-and-run collision in north London.

The firearms officer had attempted to stop a vehicle in White Hart Lane, Tottenham, when he was hit by the vehicle which was travelling "at speed".

Police said the suspect vehicle initially stopped but then drove off, colliding with the victim.

The officer has been taken to hospital. Police say his condition is not life-threatening.

The force tweeted: "We can now confirm that the officer injured in #Tottenham this morning, who is a firearms officer, does not have life-threatening injuries. Enquiries continue to locate the suspects and the vehicle."

One nearby witness, who gave his name as Taylan, 32, who was working at a business near White Hart Lane, said: “A few people nearby have told me that a police officer was hit and dragged down the road.

“There were helicopters and police cars, so something quite serious must have happened."

There have been no arrests.
