A deputy headteacher at a £14,500 per year Catholic school in west London has resigned after being charged with making indecent images of children.
Peter Allott, 36, who worked at St Benedict’s School in Ealing, was arrested on Monday, December 7 by officers from the National Crime Agency and Metropolitan Police Service.
A spokesman for the NCA said Mr Allott was later charged with possessing, showing and making indecent images of children of Category A - the most serious classification.
Mr Allott was also charged with two counts of possessing extreme pornography.
In a statement, a spokesman for St Benedict’s School said: “We can confirm that Peter Allott, the deputy headmaster of St Benedict’s, was arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency yesterday morning and has now been charged with a number of criminal offences.
"As a result of these charges Mr Allott will be suspended from his duties and instructed to avoid contact with anyone from the school.”
The spokesman added: “He has since resigned from his position at the school.
“The school was in contact with his solicitor about his suspension and they told us he was resigning.”
Mr Allott appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court today, December 9 and was remanded in custody until December 23.
