A QPR fan will stand trial for allegedly attacking a rival supporter and leaving him fighting for his life in hospital with a fractured skull, a court has heard.

Jack Ellicott, 26, is accused of inflicting serious injuries on 52-year-old Brian Rourke in an incident on the day of QPR’s 2-0 win over Luton Town on November 19.

Mr Rourke was treated by paramedics after the alleged attack, in Uxbridge Road and a short walk from the Loftus Road stadium, and was reportedly in a life-threatening condition in hospital.

The incident happened about 9.50pm, just moments after fulltime in the Championship match.

Ellicott, from Edgware, appeared at Isleworth crown court on Monday to plead not guilty to charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He spoke to confirm his name and then entered his pleas during the 15-minute court hearing.

Judge Sarah Paneth asked for confirmation that Ellicott is a QPR supporter, before she adjourned the case for a hearing on May 3 next year.

A trial date has not yet been set, due to restrictions on the operation of the courthouse caused by the pandemic.

Ellicott has been freed on bail, with conditions that he wears an electronic tag, observes a curfew, and does not attend any football matches in England and Wales.

He asked for a variation of his bail to be able to stay in the summer house of his family home in Edgware, northwest London.
