A RADA graduate who worked at the Royal Albert Hall, the National Theatre and the BBC raped a teenage waiter on their first date after meeting him through gay dating app Grindr, a court has heard.

Adam Sissons, 28, who worked on hit BBC comedy series Gavin & Stacey, met the 19-year-old alleged victim when he was being served by him at a restaurant in Angel, jurors were told.

The pair later chatted on Grindr before agreeing to meet for a date at a pub in October 2014. The two men kissed, prosecutor Corinne Bramwell told Blackfriars crown court, before agreeing to go back to Sissons’s flat in Hoxton.

“They took part in some consensual sexual activity in the bedroom,” Ms Bramwell told jurors.

Sissons, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2009, is accused of then “straddling” the teenager and raping him, despite the alleged victim’s protests that he wanted to stop.

“Sissons moved the complainant’s hands away and the complainant says he felt scared and powerless,” said Ms Bramwell. She said the alleged victim told him, “Stop, I don’t want to”, but Sissons allegedly ignored his pleas.

Sissons, who is currently working in fashion, has previous clients that include L’Oréal, Topshop and Marks & Spencer.

In 2007, he spent six months working as a crew member at the Royal Albert Hall, and writes on his CV of stints at the English National Ballet and as a BBC production assistant.

He was arrested 10 days after the alleged attack and told detectives the sexual activity had been consensual.

He denies rape and assault by penetration.

The trial continues.
