Former rugby union star Ben Cohen is set to give evidence against his mother-in-law, who he has accused of bombarding him with emails and phone calls after he split from her daughter.

Felicity Bassouls, of Ardross, Scotland, denies harassing the Rugby World Cup winner between September and October last year.

The 67-year-old appeared for a hearing at Northampton Magistrates’ Court today, but had not been called on to attend.

A three-day trial was arranged to take place at Corby Magistrates’ Court on August 12, with the agreement of defence lawyers and the Crown Prosecution Service.

The former Northampton Saints player split with Ms Bassouls' daughter Abby Cohen in 2013. He denied rumours his relationship became strained and subsequently ended because of his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Bassouls is also accused of harassing her son, Austen Blaney, with emails and phone calls, between September 1 and October 29.

She was granted unconditional bail after the hearing.

When asked if she had any comment to make outside court, Bassouls said: "I have nothing to say at this time."
