A delivery van driver was stabbed three times today by a pair of men who then stole his vehicle and sped off through south London, a witness claims.
The man was allegedly knifed after climbing out of his van in Neville Road, Selhurst, at around 4.30pm this afternoon.
One witness, who asked not be named, said the victim asked a nearby business for a lift to a cousin’s house before wandering up the road while bleeding profusely from his chest.
He told the Standard: “It looked like two guys stabbed this man and then got in the van and sped off.
“He was stabbed several times in the lower abdomen and once to the chest. There was a horrendous amount of blood.”
The witness said: “He came to the MOT centre where someone was washing a car and asked for a lift to his cousin’s place.
“When they said no he wandered off down the road.
“Guys from a bike shop came rushing out and tried to help him but he said ‘I just want a lift to my cousin’s place’ and he wandered off down Sydenham Road.
“Other people were phoning the police. There was so much blood, I wouldn’t think he would last too long without medical attention.”
A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed they had been called to reports of a stabbing in the area at 4.30pm today.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance but his condition is not yet known.
One man has been arrested following the incident and is in custody.
