Police are hunting two thugs who threatened a driver after chasing his car in a nerve-wracking incident in Essex.

Shocking dashcam footage shows the pair swerve a grey Audi, which police said was stolen, into the middle of the road and leap from it three times to intimidate the victim.

With the vehicle acting as a barricade, the other motorist was forced to swerve onto footpaths and the central reservation to escape them.

At one of the stops, on the A127 in Essex, one of the assailants attempts to hit the victim’s car with a bottle.

The pair, one in a grey tracksuit and one in a black tracksuit, gesticulate towards the other vehicle as they show their anger during the incidents.

While the cars are in motion, the Audi frequently meanders across lanes and breaks suddenly in front of the victim’s car.

Officers are still trying to track them down nearly three months later.

A statement from Essex Police said: “Do you recognise the men in this dash cam footage?

We would like to talk to them about an incident on the A127 from Leigh on Sea near to the junction of Bellhouse Lane to close to Rayleigh Weir roundabout.

“The incident took place at around 8.10am on January 13 and we have since been making enquiries.

“The vehicle involved in the incident has been recovered and we have contacted its owner following reports it was stolen.”

Those with further information are asked to call Rayleigh police station on 101 quoting crime reference 42/6745/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
