A gunman who shot a rival dead after ambushing him in the street has been jailed for a minimum of 30 years.

Matthew Clement, 23, was hit twice at his front gate in Brockley, south London, in May 2010.

Taurean Davis, 27, of Nunhead, south London, was convicted of his murder at the Old Bailey in October.

Sentencing him to life today, Judge Richard Hawkins told Davis: "It was a cowardly murder.

"He was lured out on to the street and shot without mercy. You took part in an execution."

The motive for the murder is not known but the defence suggested it could have been a falling-out over a girlfriend.
