Three people were arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed at a school in south-west London.

The 15-year-old was knifed in the leg at the Southfields Academy in Wandsworth just after 3pm this afternoon.

Maurice Mcleod tweeted after the incident: "Schoolboy stabbed at Southfields Academy after a gang of boys rushed the school terrifying students and teachers."

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at approximately 3.10pm to reports of male, believed aged 15, suffering a stab injury to the leg after an incident in the lobby area of a secondary school in Merton Road, SW18.

“London Ambulance Service attended and the male was treated - his injury is not serious.”

Scotland Yard could not provide further details about the three people arrested, but said they were held on suspicion of GBH and remained in custody.

In a statement on its website, the school said: "As some of you may be aware already an incident occurred outside the school today.

"The student involved is in a stable condition. If you or your child have any information about this incident then please telephone 101 and ask for Wandsworth CID."
